Justine Bassani's New's & Reviews
Connecticut post Sunday January 15, 2006
Work of Connecticut Artist Justine Bassani worth keeping an eye on
You might say that Conneticut artist Justine Bassani is interested in the way art is perceived in the eye of the beholder.
“I love to see the look in a person’s eye when they feel what I felt when I did the painting.”she said.
“The subtle complexity of my art engulfing the viewer’s mind long enough to create an emotion in
them is the most gratifying feeling I have ever experienced.”
Viewers can experience her work at Chocopologie in South Norwalk,
where a show of her paintings will be on view through Feb 1.
The Connecticut native made her first impression on the state art scene at age 10,
when her watercolor painting was chosen from her grade five class to be
displayed at the capitol building in Hartford.
Bassani graduated high school at age 16 with a year of college art class
credits already under her belt from Sacred Heart University night classes.
Bassani eventually went on to study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
Formally trained in design and fine art, Bassani began painting large
scale custom murals all over Connecticut, from playrooms and nurseries to office waiting rooms.
Her latest series of paintings are in a style she calls “stylized realism."
